Cruise On 2009 The 'Cruise On' has been held in the Barossa Valley for the past 16 years and is a 3-day annual event held from Friday to Sunday. The event attracts visitors from all over Australia with some from the USA and is the largest non-wine industry event held each year in the Barossa.
The highlight of the weekend is the Saturday night 'Street Party' in the main street of Tanunda. An additional 200 vehicles join the 'Cruise On' event for this night. The 'Street Party' is a free community event and we have averaged three thousand (3,000) spectators to this night. In addition to the display of vehicles, 2 Rock 'n' Roll bands are provided along with a dance floor.
Entry Fees - Saturday night only - $5/car (strictly limited to pre-1970 vehicles, customs, hot rods and American classics). No restored vehicles or non customs. Entry from 5pm. Believe us when we say this night is spectacular!! Full entrant (3-day weekend) is $50/adult, $20/child (5-13yo), under 5 free. This includes all meals from Friday evening (BBQ dinner) to Sunday lunch (except Sat night). This is excellent value and a cheap family event with where the kid’s are catered for also with games etc. SA 09/02 Club Contact (Valley Rodders) Tony & Trudy Vaughan (08) 8563 0864 E-mail: hotrod38@bigpond.net.au |

ADELAIDE
MOTORSHOW ADELAIDE MOTOR SHOW DEFERRED UNTIL 2010 In a sign of the growing impact of the global economic downturn, organisers of the Adelaide Motor Show today announce the 2009 show will be deferred until 2010 due to a shortfall in representation from both automotive and motorcycle manufacturers.
Ian Digby, The Executive Director of the Automotive Exhibitors Association of SA Inc, on behalf of the association’s board of management, said visitors to the Adelaide Motor Show had come to expect one of the best and most diverse shows in the country and there was a concern these high expectations might not be fulfilled next year. THE BAY TO BIRDWOOD RUN For vehicles manufactured between 1956 and 1977. Was first held in 1980 when the Federation of Historic Motoring Clubs invited SAS Channel Seven and the National Motor Museum to join forces in developing an event to commemorate the issuing of the first Australian driver’s licence to Dr William A Hargreaves of South Australia in September 1906. The agreed concept was to be a biennial “run” for pre-1950 vehicles from Glenelg (The Bay) to the National Motor Museum in Birdwood. By 1988 when just over 1800 entrant vehicles gathered for the Bicentenary event, the Bay to Birdwood was established as Australia’s premier historic motoring event and earned Australia-wide recognition in 1990 by winning the National Tourism Award as the best special event of festival staged in Australia. In 1997 the Classic was introduced to cater for vehicles 30 to 50 years old. This is run on the “odd” years and has become so popular with South Australian & interstate Classic vehicle owners that the entrant numbers are now capped. Both events now Start at Barrett Reserve, Adelaide Shores and Finish at the National Motor Museum, Birdwood. The Bay to Birdwood is always held on the last Sunday in September, which in 2009 is 27 September and is for vehicles manufactured between 1956 and 1977.
